Ways to Play Rage of Demons

Rage of Demons, the colossal new Dungeons & Dragons storyline, lands on computer, console, tabletop and hardcover novel. How will you enjoy it?

Whether you prefer consoles, PCs, rolling dice with friends or kicking back with a good book, the all-new Dungeons & Dragons storyline Rage of Demons has plenty to offer. The demon lords have been released from the Abyss, and players and readers must travel down to the Underdark with the iconic hero Drizzt Do’Urden to stop the chaos before it threatens the surface.

The demon lords’ arrival touches every expression of D&D, beginning with a new adventure for the tabletop roleplaying game. Out of the Abyss is suitable for Dungeons & Dragons characters of levels one through fifteen, and brings the world of Underdark firmly into play.

Character creation gets an added dimension, with alternative background features and bonds that are strongly connected with the NPCs, themes, and events of this adventure. For example, players can replace features that would normally be part of a character’s background with options such as Deep Delver and Underdark Experience.

Deep Delver will help them navigate the passageways and tunnels of this underground kingdom, allowing them to forage for food and water and sustain up to five other people. Meanwhile, Underdark Experience comes from having spent considerable time in the region learning its ways, familiarizing characters with its various races, civilizations, settlements and travel routes. Alternative bonds also give characters a touchstone to this world – whether that be the time a group of kuo-toa helped them find their way out or when a deep gnome alchemist saved their life.

Digital Demons

Dungeons & Dragons videogame fans have even more options than usual to enjoy the Rage of Demons storyline. Sword Coast Legends, the new videogame on the block, isn’t about to let a storyline as weighty as Rage of Demons pass it by. The team behind the single and multiplayer collaborative roleplaying videogame is currently hard at work creating additional download content to embed it within their world. The epic campaign that drives Sword Coast Legends’ story will force players deep into the Underdark, and the themes of treachery and discord in the Underdark will continue well after launch.

In addition, the sprawling Neverwinter MMORPG will, naturally, play a big role in bringing it to life, as an update takes adventurers to the drow city of Menzoberranzan during its demonic assault, including a unique set of quests written by Drizzt creator R.A. Salvatore. We’ll have plenty more on that expansion, which is tentatively titled Neverwinter: Underdark, next issue.

Novel Experience

Yet to really get into the mind of legendary adventurer Drizzt, fans will have to check out Archmage, the new novel by R.A. Salvatore. The first book in the Homecoming saga, Archmage has everything Drizzt’s fans crave: action, adventure, and characters that resonate with equal measures of warrior spirit and deep compassion.

The story takes place as a new day dawns on a victorious Mithral Hall. Yet no matter how bright things seem on the surface, Drizzt and his companions know that what lurks just under their feet remains steeped in evil and charged with unimaginable power. The dark elves of Menzoberranzan, it seems, aren’t done with Drizzt just yet. And neither are you: download Archmage chapter one using the link on this page.
